Hey guys,
I recently installed a ColorMFA, V3.4 into an Audi A6 C5 (4B0 920 933 G) Cluster. Everything went fine, the device starts up mostly without errors, but erratically shows an error message for dynamic headlight adjustment, which is false, because the module checks out as fine and the error is not present with the original cluster.
The second much bigger problem is, that only the „enter“ button is functional. Up and down commands are not recognized at all. Checked for continuity, even grounded the Key Via‘s on the board manually, nothing is recognized. Could this be a firmware problem? I would like to update the firmware to the appropriate C5 release, but it seems that I have to use the controls to navigate to the firmware tab in the MFA before I can do so. I currently have no chance to check which firmware is installed.
Any suggestions? I tested nearly everything and all checked out fine, but I can’t get the buttons to work.
Best regards,
Soeren

I think you have an incorrect firmware version installed. It is possible that firmware for the A48E has been installed.
Follow these steps (in car):
1. Remove fuse #15
2. Press and hold the "down" button
3. Reinsert the fuse (while still holding the button)
4. The ColorMFA should enter bootloader mode
5. Release the "down" button
6. Turn on the ignition
7. Connect PC (USB) and install the correct firmware
P.S.: After replacing the firmware, go to the hidden Debug section and perform a Debug -> Reset All

Info by me for all people that like to bench test out of the car:
You can ground pin 17/18 to ground with a 10k resistor and power up the cluster, that will do the same as pushing the down button in the car.
Thanks for the quick help.

Pin 18 is sufficient. And you don't need a resistor. This type of input can be used directly with ground. There are no resistors on the steering column switch, it simply shorts to ground when the buttons are pressed. You can ground pin 17/18 to ground with a 10k resistor and power up the cluster, that will do the same as pushing the down button in the car.
Be sure to Debug -> Reset All. This is required if you change the firmware type (for example, from A4 to A6).
