beep without errors

Recently the colorMFA in my 2003 V6 Bora does a long beep after the self-check when starting the engine.
No other errors or lights show up.

When I check the colorMFA menu, there are no messages and no DTCs.

However, when I connect an old IMMO3 cluster, it shows 2 errors:
- check brake pads
- top up washer fluid

The ColorMFA should display all standard errors and warnings, with the exception of the standard service warning. The service warning configured in the instrument cluster cannot be displayed on the ColorMFA screen. Because of this, the system may beep after turning on the ignition, but the screen will remain blank. In this case, you need to reset the service by connecting with a diagnostic cable.

Check which messages are disabled in ColorMFA. menu- System- Debug- Software- Errors
Debug mode: Debug

Check the instrument cluster coding and the status of the washer fluid and brake pad options. These options should be enabled in coding if you have a washer fluid sensor and brake pad sensor.

Check the ColorMFA connection. Some errors are detected by external connections. The connection must be correct.

Take photos of the CAN bus in the ColorMFA CAN Monitor (menu- System- CAN-Monitor). Turn on the Motor and Comfort CAN-bus options. The data on the screen scrolls up and down to ensure everything is included in the photo.

This means you should have an "Errors" menu in "Debug".
This is a very old firmware. Around 2016-2017.

I didn't see any problems. There was no water level error when this video was filmed.

Regarding the error with the brake pads: For your dashboard, the brake pad error in the ColorMFA is generated by an external connection. This error does not occur on the CAN bus, only with an external connection. The wire is connected from the ColorMFA to the place where the standard brake pad error LED was located. I updated firmware as per wiki to v2.9.4_b47 and all went smoothly

I found how to turn on Debug. Washer level and brake pads were ticked. When I unticked them and restarted the car, the beep was still there. So I ticked them back on.

I'll hopefully take the wheels off next week to check brake pads, but they are around 20,000 km so shouldn't be an issue

When you disable options in Software->Errors, you prevent these errors from being displayed on the screen. You can't disable the malfunction check or the instrument panel audible alert. You can only disable the on-screen message. This is exactly the situation when there is sound, but nothing on the screen (if options disabled).

You can check whether these errors are related to the sound output on the instrument cluster with ColorMFA.
Temporarily disable the brake pad check in the instrument cluster coding. If there is no sound after this, the instrument cluster is beeping specifically due to the brake pads. If these errors are not displayed on the screen during normal operation, there is a problem with the ColorMFA connection.
You can't check the washer level until it's full. You need to wait until the fluid runs out.

The brake pad wear indicator wire is soldered to the instrument panel indicator. It is located behind the ColorMFA board.

Have you checked the reason for the dashboard beeping? Have you disabled the brake pads using coding?

When I disabled brake pads and washer fluid using debug, the instrument cluster still beeped.

I checked the brake pads today, they are all OK. The connection was also OK - plugged in just fine.

So I need to pull off the ColorMFA board to check the connections?

You can check the errors that are beeping on the dashboard with ColorMFA. To do this, you need to disable the brake pads in the coding in the instrument panel with ColorMFA.
