ColorMFA Aftermarket Stereo?

Hello all,

Is it possible for the ColorMFA to show which song is playing on an aftermarket stereo. If so is there a compatability list? If it isn't possible is it because it needs to use the OEM ones (Gamma/Betta/MFD 1) since it transfers the data via CAN/Gala buses.

The question is regarding VW Passat B5.5 / Golf MK4

If you aftermarket audio is support VW- or Audi- protocol (via CAN), it show info in ColorMFA. If not support, info is not shown.

Does this also apply to the navigation arrows from aftermarket radio? The Android Radio uses a Can Bus Adapter to communicate with steering wheel buttons

Aftermarket radio show info in the original FullFIS ? If yes, it also show info in ColorMFA.

I don't have such information. I don't know what systems support standard VW/Audi protocols.

Any idea if the newer clusters (Jetta/Golf MK6) use the same method as older clusters for Navigation / Music Info?

If so, might test out an aftermarket solution that claims to work with those clusters and will report back.

"New" clusters use DDP2 or BAP to transfer data between cluster and navigation/radio. Which of the protocols (DDP2 or BAP) depends on the model year, cluster type, navigation/radio model and coding.

Does colorMFA support either protocol?

Yes. Only exchange protocols (DDP2 and BAP). It not support full CAN emulation for new navi/radio.
New navi/radio device may not work correctly on old cars. Need special CAN emulator for send some info to this navi/radio if it installed to old car.

I have not studied this issue. You need to ask the guys on the car forums. What kind of adapters do they use.
